Who We Serve
Adults
At Commonwealth Behavioral Health we believe that each person is unique. Given this, we match the individual’s presenting problem with a clinician who has expertise in that area. In order to help you or your loved on reach his or her full potential we offer group, family, couple and individual counseling and psychotherapy. We realize that additional supports may be required to increase an individual’s quality of life.
Adults with Special Needs
We understand the challenges that adults with intellectual disabilities and other physical or mental challenges face. We strive to provide supports that increase the quality of life for all individuals. We are skilled in educating family members about their loved ones needs and connecting families and individuals to resources in the community. We are also trained in constructing behavior support plans in order to increase ones quality of life. We employ a team oriented approached where information is collected from all those who support the individual.
Children and Adolescents
Our clinicians believe in a holistic approach when treating children and adolescents. We collaborate, (with the guardian’s consent) with day care providers, teachers, and all others providing care for the child to glean a full clinical picture. We use a dynamic approach to therapy which consists of multiple types of treatment including play therapy and sand tray therapy.
Children with Special Needs
We understand that parenting a child with special needs may present unique challenges. We specialize in educating parents in identifying ways to decrease stress within the family unit. This is done through a systemic approach. Our goal is to help the child by improving social skills and decreasing problematic behavior. We connect with the child’s current service providers to ensure the continuity of care and to develop a full understanding of the child’s situation. In addition, we help families identify environmental factors that contribute to behavioral outbursts, and implement behavioral support plans when appropriate.
